Abducted minor Nepali girl rescued by UTCPCR

A minor girl trafficked from Nepal was rescued by the UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights (UTCPCR) on Monday.  The accused has been identified as Kushal, a 35 year native of Nepal. As per sources, the victim, 16 year girl, was enticed by the accused on false marriage promises and brought to Port Blair. But after reaching here, the accused allegedly sexually exploited the minor and also meted out physical torture. Neighbours reported the incident to the Commission after which UTCPCR member, Smt Rubina Siddique informed the Police. The accused has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of POCSO Act and IPC.
“The accused worked as a watchman in a city hotel. The Commission was informed about the minor girl last Friday after which I informed the matter to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, South Andaman. A special team comprising 10-12 persons was formed involving the Commission, Police, DCPU, Child Helpline. After recording the statement of the minor, the accused was arrested from his house at Nayagaon and sent to judicial custody. Meanwhile, the medical examination of the victim has been conducted and she was later sent to Pranab Kanya Sangha for stay,” informed Smt Rubina Siddique.
