Admn. committed to promote physical, social wellbeing of PwD: SW Director

As part of observance of Van Mahotsava, the Directorate of Social Welfare, A & N Administration organised a function for distribution of mobility aids and appliances to Divyangjans on Friday. A senior citizen of Collinpur, 82 year old Mr Haripado was invited as the special guest for the function. During the camp, 25 hearing aids, TLM kits and saplings of flower/ornamental plants were distributed to Divyangjans.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director of Social Welfare, Dr Navlendra Kumar Singh said that the administration is sensitive to the cause of persons with disabilities and is dedicatedly working for their empowerment. “The main objective of giving the aids is to promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation. The Social Welfare has implemented several schemes for the welfare for persons with disabilities and this is the second such camp organized for distribution of aids and appliances. Similar camps will be organized in other parts of these islands to benefit all needy people in these islands,” said Dr Singh. The Director of Social Welfare also spoke on the significance of Van Mahotsava and stress on the need for public participation in conservation of nature. The Programme Officer of ICDS, Mr PC James briefly highlighted about various schemes implemented by the Social Welfare Department for the welfare of Persons with Disabilities in these islands. Mr A.K.Biswas, Superintendent of Juvenile Home, Directorate of Social Welfare proposed the vote of thanks.
