Adolescent education workshop for teachers

The Population Education Cell of the Directorate of Education organized a Nodal Teacher Training and Workshop on “Adolescent Education” for the teachers of South Andaman, Wimberly Gunj and Little Andaman Educational Zone recently. Dr. Dheeraj Kumar DDE (Plg.) inaugurated the programme and appreciated the efforts of DDE (Science). The inaugural function was graced by Dr.M. Joy, Project Director AIDS Control Society, who gave an overview of the programme and how it can implemented in schools with National AIDS Control Programme. Mr Mammen Thomas, Principal SIE and Deputy Education Officer, South Andaman and Mr R. K. Singh SPO were present on the occasion.
Dr.Jahanara Yashmeen Dy. Director (IEC) elaborated on the topics STIs/RTIs and HIV/AIDS ,Life Skills For  HIV Prevention   and give valuable inputs to deal with Mr Arun Kumar Singh, Inspector/SHO/Aberdeen Elaborated the Topic :Substance abuse, Dr.Manju Associate professor/Gynaecology Department and Dr. S. Lohit  Assistant Prof./Psychology Department Delivered lecture about Mental Health Issue in Adolescence.
In the valedictory function, Mr Susan Mallick DDE(Personal) gave away certificates to participant teachers and stressed for organising such type of workshop. Mr Sarachandran, DDE(Sc) and Project Director –PEP/AEP welcome the gathering. Smt Kalpana Singh, Project Officer PEP/AEP proposed the vote of thanks.
