Agromet advisory bulletin

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from November  1 to 5. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 61 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 48 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 138 mm of heavy rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 30 to 32 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 24 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 72 to 83 % and 68 to 76%, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 12 to 55 kmph is expected from North Easterly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to harvest the mature paddy and keep open the bunds to drain rain water as good amount of rainfall is expected, harvest mature vegetables and sent to the market to avoid losses due to rain, stock the fry (2-5 cm) @ 2-3 lakh/ha and remove wild fishes manually during sampling and give vaccine against foot and mouth disease for pig as the condition is favorable for its spread. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to avoid application of manure to the vegetable filed as moderate to heavy rainfall is expected during next five days and to give vaccine against foot and mouth disease for pig as the condition is favorable for its spread.
