Agromet advisory bulletin

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Dec 9 to 13, 2017. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 52 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 51 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 70 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 31 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 23 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 73 to 79 % and 67 to 74%, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 8 to 19 kmph is expected from North Easterly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to harvest the fallen rice panicles and avoid stagnation of water in the field, do weeding to the surrounding of vegetable roots and the field to minimize the moisture content of the soil, dry the harvested matured arecanut under the sunlight on a temporary bamboo structure floor 2 feet above the ground level and remove the wet litter from poultry shed and put dry fresh litter to avoid growth of any pathogens. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to do weeding to the surrounding of vegetable roots and the field to minimize the moisture content of the soil and remove the wet litter from poultry shed and put dry fresh litter to avoid growth of any pathogens.
