Agromet Advisory Bulletin

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Feb 14 to 18, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light rainfall is likely in the next five days. In South Andaman, 4 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman no rainfall and in Nicobar Island 15 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 34 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 22 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 69 to 78 % and 62 to 73 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Farmers of South Andaman have been advised to apply Acephate @ 2 ml/lit to control Aphids in vegetables, apply neem oil @ 30 ml/lt of water along with teepol @ 0.5 ml/lt after onset of fruit to control pod borer in beans during rain free days and provide electrolytes 1% with drinking water to the piglets during sunny times to prevent heat stress. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to collect the drop out coconuts from the community garden and dry it for copra production and provide electrolytes 1% with drinking water to the piglets during sunny times to prevent heat stress.
