Agromet advisory bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from March 31 to April 4, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 5 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman no rainfall and in Nicobar Island 45 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 32 to 34 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 24 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 61 to 73 % and 54 to 67 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 3 to 12 kmph is expected from North Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to mulch the interspaces of vegetables with crop residue or paddy straw to conserve soil moisture, apply tar or white wash around the base of the coconut and arecanut tree and provide drip irrigation to save the tree and to cure anaemia  in piglet provide ferrous sulphate @ 0.5 kg dissolved in 10 lit of hot water.
