Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from March 11-15, 2017. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather in the next five days. In South Andaman and in North and Middle Andaman no rainfall is expected and in Nicobar Island 2 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 31 to 33 oC with minimum temperature of 23 to 25 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 69 to 75 % and 63 to 68 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 3 to 16 kmph is expected from North Westerly direction.
Farmers in Andaman region have been advised to spray Imidacloprid @ 2 ml /lit and Acephate 2 g/lit alternatively once in two week to control thrips, leaf hopper and other sucking pests in cluster beans and cowpea, save arecanut plants of hilly land by digging semicircular shape in upper side of the plant, fill with crop residue and cover with soil and give one irrigation and feed mineral mixture @ 20 g/day to cows and buffaloes to improve milk yield and reproductive performance.
