Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from March 18-22, 2017. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman no rainfall is expected, in North and Middle Andaman 8 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 7 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 33 oC with minimum temperature of 22 to 24 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 61 to 69 % and 55 to 66 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 6 to 14 kmph is expected from North Westerly direction.
Farmers in Andaman region have been advised to make soil mount around the cucurbit and provide life saving irrigation with the available water from pond or water channel, remove and burn the plants showing viral infection such as leaf curling, yellowing and mosaic in bhendi and chilli and to cure anaemia  in piglet provide ferrous sulphate @ 0.5 kg dissolved in 10 lit of hot water. In Nicobar, collect and destroy the affected fruit of snake gourd and spray 3 % neem oil to control fruit flies and to cure anaemia in piglet provide ferrous sulphate @ 0.5 kg dissolved in 10 lit of hot water.
