Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute here forecast cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In its agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from April 1-5, 2017, CIARI forecast 14 mm of rainfall in South Andaman, 5 mm rainfall in North and Middle Andaman and 35 mm of rainfall in Nicobar Island during the period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 34 oC with minimum temperature of 23 to 26 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 70 to 75 % and 67 to 70 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 2 to 11 kmph is expected.
Farmers in South Andaman region have been advised to apply neem oil @ 30 ml/lt of water mixted with teepol @ 0.5 ml/lt to control pod borer in beans, do weeding and earthingup in black pepper and apply lime @ 500 g per vine as per alternate yearly application and provide mineral mixture at the rate 5 g/day to piglets for 15 days for proper growth. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to clean the crown of coconut tree, as well as community garden to avoid breeding and growth of insects and provide mineral mixture at the rate 5 g/day to piglets for 15 days for proper growth.
