Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has forecast moderate rainfall to occur in the next five days. In the agromet bulletin for the period from April 12-16, CIARI forecast 78 mm of rainfall in South Andaman, 45 mm of rainfall in North and Middle Andaman and 75 mm of rainfall in Nicobar island. The maximum temperature will be 28 to 32 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 23 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 71 to 77 % and 67 to 72 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 2 to 11 kmph is expected from north-westerly direction.
Farmers in Andaman region have been requested to avoid application of any fertilizers and pesticides in the vegetable field as rainfall is expected, harvest the matured vegetables and take it to the nearby vegetable market to avoid losses due to the rain and provide amprolium oral medicine and sulfa drugs to poultry and local chicken after consultation with vertinary doctors to control coccidiosis disease.
