Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute here has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from April 22 to 26, 2017. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 6 mm of rainfall, no rainfall in North and Middle Andaman and in Nicobar Island 17 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 31 to 33 oC with minimum temperature of 24 to 25 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 74 to 80 % and 69 to 75 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 10 to 17 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to do weeding and earthing up in vegetable crops as weeds are germinated due to the rain, prepare vegetable seedlings (Brinjal and Chilli) in protrays in protected area, for planting in high lands, prepare the nursery pond by cleaning wild fishes for the next fish breeding season and provide dim light (5 to 10 lux) to improve the body weight of chicks in brooders.  In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to do weeding and earthing up in vegetable crops as weeds are germinated due to the rain and provide dim light (5 to 10 lux) to improve the body weight of chicks in brooders.
