Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from April 26 to 30, 2017. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 30 mm of rainfall is expected, 16 mm of rainfall in North and Middle Andaman and 41 mm in Nicobar Island. The maximum temperature will be 32 to 34 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 25 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative  humidity is expected to be in the range of 69 to 80 % and 64 to 75 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 5 to 17 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman region have  been advised to carryout lands shaping activity, as the soil conditions is conducive. Prepare the up land for sowing of seeds of bitter gourd, bottle gourd and snake gourd, provide root feeding of monocrotophos after cutting the fresh root tip of the coconut tree affected with slug caterpillar, use separate brooders from other fishes in breeding season and provide electrolyte power in drinking water to poultry birds to prevent heat stress during day times as hot weather will prevail.  In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to clean the community coconut garden and fire the waste to reduce the pest attack and provide electrolyte power in drinking water to poultry birds to prevent heat stress during day times as hot weather will prevail.
