Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has forecast partly cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In its agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from May 10-14, CIARI forecast 40 mm of rainfall in South Andaman, 7 mm of rainfall in North and Middle Andaman and 60 mm of rainfall in Nicobar Island during the period. The maximum temperature will be 31 to 36 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 25 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 69 to 73 % and 67 to 71 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 2 to 8 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in Andaman region have been advised to clean around the arecanut and coconut and also the crown to reduce pest infestation, collect organic wastes, chop it and mix with any animal manure/glyricidia fill the compost tank., provide the day old chicks with RD vaccine as eye drops and 10 days old chicks with IBD vaccine as nasal/ eye drops and to cure anaemia  in piglet provide ferrous sulphate @ 0.5 kg dissolved in 10 litre of  hot water. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to do earthing up in tapioca and harvest the rain water as moderate rainfall is expected during the next five days.
