Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from June 7 to 11. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate to heavy rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 146 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 112 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 201 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 30 to 32 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 25 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 77 to 82 % and 73 to 80 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 22 to 37 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to prepare the main field of rice and sow green manure Dhaincha, avoid spraying of pesticide in vegetables, as moderate to heavy rainfall is expected during next five days, harvest the mature banana and provide support to the fruit bearing banana tree as wind speed may rise to 30 km/h, do breading of IMC carps during rainy days and breed 1:2 (female : male) ratio of body weight and inject ovaprim @ 0.5 ml/kg for female and 0.2-0.3 ml/kg for male during evening hours in hapa and keep day old chicks under light preferably 40 watt bulb during cloudy days and provide clean drinking water.
