The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has forecast partly cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman, 20 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 47 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 11 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 32 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 24 to 25 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 79 to 82 % and 76 to 80 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 17 to 29 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
In South Andaman, farmers have been advised to do weeding in brinjal, okra and chilli grown in upland area and apply vermi-compost or farm yard manure @ 2.5 t/ha, make pits of 60 cm away from base tree (arecanut) and transplant black pepper vines grown in nursery bed or polythene bags and fill the pits with compost or farm yard manure, transplant pine apple suckers in upland area or embankment of pond/ BBF by digging 25 to 30 cm depth and maintain 90 cm plant to plant distance and remove the wet litter from poultry shed and put dry fresh litter for enhanced production and to avoid growth of any pathogens. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to collect fallen coconut from the field and make pits at distance of 7.5 m for transplanting and remove the wet litter from poultry shed and put dry fresh litter for enhanced production and to avoid growth of any pathogens.
