Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from June 28 to July 2, 2017. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 89 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 96 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 68 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 28 to 31 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 24 to 25 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 78 to 80 % and 74 to 79 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 23 to 34 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to clean and strengthen the bunds of paddy main field and store the rain water, avoid fertilizers application in vegetable field as good amount of rainfall is expected, prepare nursery ponds by cleaning weeds and aquatic insects to stocks IMC spawns and deworm the poultry and local chicken after consultation with veterinary doctors. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to transplant coconut seedlings @ 177/ha in square method and maintain 7.5 m plant to plant distance and deworm the poultry and local chicken after consultation with veterinary doctors.
