Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from July 1-5, 2017. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 77 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 50 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 95 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 32 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 23 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 78 to 81 % and 72 to 77 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 22 to 29 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to identify the rodent movement track in paddy field and place rodent trap accordingly to avoid the losses during ripening of the crops, avoid stagnation of water in vegetable field to prevent incidence of damping off diseases, make ridges and transplant the banana suckers as the soil condition is conducive and remove the wet litter from poultry shed and put dry fresh litter for enhanced production and to avoid growth of any pathogens.
