Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from July 12-16, 2017. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 103 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 120 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 99 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 28 to 31 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 23 to 25 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 78 to 82 % and 73 to 79 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 20 to 45 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been requested to make channels in the vegetable field to drain out excess water as moderate rainfall is expected, harvest the mature banana and provide support to the fruit bearing banana tree as wind speed may rise to 45 km/h, do breading of IMC carps and breed 1:2 (female : male) ratio of body weight and inject ovaprim @ 0.5 ml/kg for female and 0.2-0.3 ml/kg for male during evening hours in hapa and keep the day old chicks under light preferably 40 watt bulb during cloudy days and provide clean drinking water.
