Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from July 22-26, 2017. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 97 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 48 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 38 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 32 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 23 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 81 to 85 % and 77 to 81 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 22 to 36 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to treat the paddy seedlings with 6 packets of azospirillum and transplant rice in main field at 20 x 10 cm spacing, protect vegetable nursery bed by providing shelter and drain the excess water and keep goats under dry clean shelter to avoid pneumonia or breathing problem. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to plant fodder sapling in the inter space of coconut  as the soil condition is conducive and keep goats under dry clean shelter to avoid pneumonia or breathing problem.
