Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from July 29 to August 2, 2017. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate to heavy rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 103 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 53 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 45 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 30 oC with minimum temperature of 24 to 25oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 81 to 83% and 77 to 81%, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 25 to 35 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to transplant paddy seedlings after proper land leveling and clip top of the seedlings to avoid stem borer attack, avoid spraying of any pesticides to the vegetable field as moderate to heavy rainfall is expected, stock spawn in nursery pond at the rate of 25-35 lakhs spawn per hectare and provide mineral mixture @ 0.10 gm/kg feed to the poultry birds grown under backyard condition. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to make besin around the coconut plant and apply compost @ 15 kg/plant and provide mineral mixture @ 0.10 gm/kg feed to the poultry birds grown under backyard condition.
