Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from September  13-17 In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 74 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 42 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 80 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 33 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 24 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 76 to 84 % and 70 to 79 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 12 to 33 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to close the rice main field bunds at 5 cm height and maintain thin film of water as rainfall is expected during next five days, control bacterial blight in cow pea by removing and destroying the infected crops, prepare micronutrients enriched vermin-compost and allow it for its maturity in the tank itself for 15 to 20 days and give vaccine against foot and mouth disease for their cattle, goat and pig.
