Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Octover 11 to 15. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the during next five days. In South Andaman 156 mm of heavy rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 92 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 128 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 28 to 31 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 23 to 25 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 71 to 85 % and 66 to 83 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 3 to 38 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to apply FYM @ 10 kg/plant along with 5 kg neem cake to recover the coconut plant affected with coconut leaf eating caterpillar during next two to three days, collect the organic wastes, chop it and mix with any animal manure/glyricidia fill the compost tank and provide amprolium oral medicine and sulfa drugs to poultry and local chicken after consultation with veterinary doctors to control coccidiosis disease.  In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to make channel in vegetable filed to remove excess rain water as good amount of rainfall is expected during next five days and provide amprolium oral medicine and sulfa drugs to poultry and local chicken after consultation with veterinary doctors to control coccidiosis disease.
