Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the Medium Range Weather bulletin for the period from November  4 to 8. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to occur during next five days. In South Andaman 101 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 78 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 114 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 32 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 24 to 25 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 72 to 79 % and 63 to 73%, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 9 to 33 kmph is expected from North Easterly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman are advised to take the harvested paddy to nearby shelter as good amount of rainfall is expected during next five days, provide drainage channel to remove rain water from the vegetable field, fix 4 to 5 light traps per acre  and fill 1/4th of the container with water and add 5 ml kerosene to control coconut leaf eating caterpillar and keep day old chicks under 40 watt bulbs at one foot height from floor level.
