Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from November  29 to December 3. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light to heavy rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 195 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 122 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 277 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 31 degree centigrade  with minimum temperature of23 to 26 degree centigrade , whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 77to 85% and 70 to 78%, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of16to53kmph is expected from north Easterly direction.
In South Andaman, farmers have been advised to take the harvested paddy to nearby shelter as heavy rainfall is expected during next five days, provide drainage facility in the vegetable field and avoid application of pesticides for next 3 to 5 days, harvest matured vegetables and sent to the nearby market to avoid losses due to rain. Due to expected heavy rain the poultry birds should be housed in well ventilated dry room, provide clean drinking water and 16 hrs light during cloudy weather to avoid mortality. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to provide drainage facility in the vegetable field and avoid application of fertilizers for next 5 days, due to expected heavy rain the poultry birds should be housed in well ventilated dry room, provide clean drinking water and 16 hrs light during cloudy weather to avoid mortality.
