Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Jan 13-17, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast, partly cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 69 mm of rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman 9 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 105 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 30 to 32 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 24 to 28 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 70 to 79 % and 62 to 72 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 11 to 26 kmph is expected  from North Easterly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to transplant vegetables like tomato, brinjal and cauliflower in raised beds with drainage facility, prepare the land for sowing of creeper vegetables and incorporate farm yard manure @ 20 to 25 t/ha at the time of last plough, clean the poultry sheds with disinfection solution like Savlon and water and spray lime surrounding area of the poultry farm to avoid disease. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to provide drainage channel to the vegetable field to avoid stagnation of water as good amount of rainfall is expected and clean the poultry sheds with disinfection solution like savlon and water, spray lime surrounding area of the poultry farm to avoid disease.
