Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from March 2 to 6. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast  partly cloudy weather in the next five days. In South Andaman no rainfall, in North and Middle Andaman no rainfall and in Nicobar Island 3 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 32 to 33 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 23 to 25 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 59 to 78 % and 52 to 72 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 4 to 17 kmph is expected from North Easterly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to spray Malathion @ 2 ml/lit to control borer pests in pulse crop as the weather is conducive for the growth of such pests, apply copper oxychloride @ 0.25 % in soil for the management of bacterial wilt disease in vegetables and provide vitamin-C and electrolyte along with cool drinking water to the poultry birds to prevent from heat stress. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to collect the drop out coconuts from the community garden and dry it for copra production and provide vitamin-C and electrolyte along with cool drinking water to the poultry birds to prevent from heat stress.
