Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from April 7-11, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman, 98 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 84 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 98 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 31 to 33 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 68 to 78 % and 63 to 71 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 2 to 30 kmph is expected from South Easterly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to harvest rainwater for irrigation as good amount of rainfall is expected during next five days, save arecanut plants of hilly land by digging semicircular shape in upper side of the plant, fill with crop residue and cover with soil and feed mineral mixture @ 20 g/day to cows and buffaloes to improve milk yield and reproductive performance.
