Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from April 14 to 18, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather in the next five days. In South Andaman and in North and Middle Andaman no rainfall is expected and in Nicobar Island 23 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 32 to 33 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 25 to 28 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 73 to 81 % and 68 to 77 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 3 to 15 kmph is expected from North Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to observe for maturity of pulse crop and harvest green gram by weekly picking before over mature, do weeding and apply Triazophos @ 2 ml/lit along with neem oil 5 ml to control mealy bug in fruits and vegetables and deworm all the livestock and poultry to prevent from parasitic load. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to make basin around the coconut and arecanut tree to harvest rain water as rainfall is expected and deworm all the livestock and poultry to prevent from parasitic load.
