Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from May 16 to 20, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 39 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 38 mm and in Nicobar Island 32 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 32 to 35 degree centigrade  with minimum temperature of 24 to 26 degree centigrade  , whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 67 to 75 % and 63 to 70%, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 3 to 13 kmph is expected from South Westerly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to prepare the land and sow green manure crop dhaincha @ 20 kg/ha of seed before onset of monsoon rain, sow leafy vegetables like Marsa and poi in beds and covered with banana leaves till germination and deworm all the livestock like cow, goat and pig with the single dose of Albendazole @ 7.5 mg/kg of body weight. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to make basin around the coconut and sow sunnhemp @ 50g/basin as green manure crop and deworm all the livestock like cow, goat and pig with the single dose of Albendazole @ 7.5 mg/kg of body weight
