Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from July 14 to 18. In the bulletin CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman92 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 97 mm andin Nicobar Island 131 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 30 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of23 to 26 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 80 to 84% and 78to 80%,respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 34to44kmph is expected from SouthWesterly direction. Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to apply 12.5 t/ha FYM along with neem cake or vemicompost during rice main field preparation, do weeding in brinjal, okra and chilli grown in upland area and apply vermi-compost or farm yard manure @ 2.5 t/ha and keep the piglet under brooding condition by providing light as rainfall is expected during next five days. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to collect fallen coconut from the field and make pits at distance of 7.5 m for planting and keep the piglet under brooding condition by providing light as rainfall is expected during next five days.
