Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released  the agromet bulletin for the period from Aug 11 to 15, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 103 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 78 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 127 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 28 to 30 oC with minimum temperature of 24 to 25 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 81 to 85 % and 78 to 80 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 32 to 41 kmph is expected from SouthWesterly direction. Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to keep the bund open in transplanted rice main field at 15 cm height, provide drainage and collect the fallen/rotten fruits of vegetable crops and keep the day old chicks under light preferably 40 watt bulb during cloudy days and provide clean drinking water. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to make channel in the coconut garden and do removal of unwanted debris and keep the day old chicks under light preferably 40 watt bulb during cloudy days and provide clean drinking water.
