Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Aug 15 to 19, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 60 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 81 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 118 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 30 oC with minimum temperature of 24 to 25 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 82 to 85 % and 79 to 81 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 31 to 41 kmph is expected from SouthWesterly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to close the bunds of paddy field at 10 cm height and store the rain water, use cono weeder to remove and incorporate weeds,  collect and destroy the affected fruits of cucurbits and spray neem oil @ 3.0 % during rain free days to manage fruit fly and provide mineral mixture @ 0.10 gm/kg feed to the poultry birds grown under backyard condition. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to do intercultural operation in vegetable field as the weather is conducive and provide mineral mixture @ 0.10 gm/kg feed to the poultry birds grown under backyard condition.
