Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Sept 19 to 23, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with intermittent moderate to heavy rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 163 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 122 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 75 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 31 oC with minimum temperature of 23 to 25 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 77 to 83 % and 72 to 79 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 4 to 49 kmph is expected from SouthWesterly direction.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to remove excess water from the paddy field and keep open the bund at 10 cm height as moderate to heavy rainfall is expected during next five days, harvest matured vegetables and send to the market. Remove all the fallen fruits and destroy, provide additional support to banana and vines vegetables and provide clean drinking water to livestock and keep the shed dry and clean to avoid gastrointestinal infection.  In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to provide clean drinking water to livestock and keep the shed dry and clean to avoid gastrointestinal infection.
