Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute here has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Oct 19 to 23. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 99 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 146 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 109 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 29.6 to 30.7 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 24.2 to 24.5 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 74 to 81 % and 64 to 79 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 1.6 to 5.6 kmph is expected.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to clean weeds from the rice field to reduce the gundhy bug attack in ripening rice grains as the weather is conducive, apply neem oil @ 30 ml/lt of water along with teepol @ 0.5 ml/lt after onset of fruit to control pod borer in beans and clean immediately the nose after the birth of the goat kid to prevent suffocation.
