Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Nov 7 to 11, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with light to heavy rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 149 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 117 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 151 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 30.3 to 31.5 oC with minimum temperature of 24.0 to 25.6 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 76 to 84 % and 71 to 78 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 17.6 to 31.0 kmph is expected from North Easterly.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to take all the harvested rice to nearby shed as moderate to heavy rainfall is expected during next five days, keep open the bunds in rice main field to drain out excess rainwater, provide drainage channel in vegetable field as well as nursery to drain out rain water and contact nearby veterinarian if foot and mouth disease is observed and regularly vaccinate your animal with multivalent vaccine under the supervision of qualified veterinary practitioner.         In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to avoid intercultural operation in the garden as moderate to heavy rainfall is expected and contact nearby veterinarian if foot and mouth disease is observed and regularly vaccinate your animal with multivalent vaccine under the supervision of qualified veterinary practitioner.
