Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Nov 14 to 18, 2018. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 88 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 63 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 104 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 29.2 to 30.3 degree centigrade with minimum temperature of 24.0 to 24.9 degree centigrade, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 75 to 82 % and 70 to 77 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 6.8 to 18.3 kmph is expected from North Easterly.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to keep open the bunds in rice main field and vegetable field to drain out excess rainwater, avoid chemical inputs use to vegetables as moderate rains are expected and provide mineral mixture @ 0.10 gm/kg feed to the poultry birds grown under backyard condition. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to avoid intercultural operation in the vegetable field as rainfall is expected and provide mineral mixture @ 0.10 gm/kg feed to the poultry birds grown under backyard condition.
