Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Dec 12 to 16. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast cloudy weather with moderate to heavy rainfall in the next five days. In South Andaman 171  mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 148 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 128 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 30.0 to 31.0 oC with minimum temperature of 24.0 to 28.0 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 78 to 82 % and 72 to 78 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 20.9 to 31.8 kmph is expected from South Easterly.
Farmers in South Andaman have been advised to protect the vegetable nursery as continuous rain is expected, make trenches in vegetable field to avoid stagnation of water and plant suitable fodder sapling in upland area as the soil condition is conducive. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to make channels in home garden to drain out excess rain water and plant suitable fodder sapling in upland area as the soil condition is conducive.
