Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Dec 15 to 19. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with moderate rainfall to occur in the next five days. In South Andaman 98 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 62 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 104 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 30.0 to 31.0 oC with minimum temperature of 24.0 to 28.0 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 76 to 84 % and 72 to 79 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of  17.0 to 35.1 kmph is expected from North Easterly.
Farmers have been advised to harvest long duration paddy (C14-8) to avoid losses due to lodging, drain out water from vegetable nursery to avoid damping off / rotting of seedlings, clean the fresh water fish pond to remove invasive species during rainy season through netting, for protecting the stocked fish and deworm cattle, buffalo and goat after consulting with local veterinary doctors. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to raise vegetable nursery separately and treat the seed of brinjal, tomato and chilli with trichoderma/Psudomonas @ 2 gm/kg of seed and deworm pig and goat after consulting with local veterinary doctors.
