Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for the period from Jan 12 to 16, 2019. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather with light to moderate rainfall in the next next five days. In South Andaman 31 mm of rainfall and in North and Middle Andaman 14 mm of rainfall and in Nicobar Island 41 mm of rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 30.0 to 31.0 oC with minimum temperature of 23.0 to 28.0 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 78 to 84 % and 73 to 79 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 19.4 to 23.5 kmph is expected from North Easterly.
Farmers in Andaman region have been advised to do weeding in brinjal and apply vemicompost after 30 days of transplanting, prepare the land and plant sweet potato as the weather is conducive for it, clean the fallen/damage papaya tree from the field, to avoid spreading of fungal diseases and vaccinate the poultry birds for RD and IBD in consultation with veterinary doctors.  In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to clean the fallen/damage papaya tree from the field, to avoid spreading of fungal diseases and vaccinate the poultry birds for RD and IBD in consultation with veterinary doctors.
