Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for the period from Feb 9 to 13, 2019. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast clear sky in the next five days. In South Andaman 6 mm of rainfall is expected and no rainfall in North and Middle Andaman and in Nicobar Island 23 mm of light to moderate rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 31.0 to 32.0 oC with minimum temperature of 22.0 to 29.0 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 74 to 82 % and 65 to 77 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 11.9 to 27.5 kmph is expected from North Easterly direction.
Farmers in Andaman region have been advised to control fruit fly in mango by placing pheromone trap in branches at three meter distance and collect the fallen infested fruits and dispose them by dumping and burying in 60 cm deep pits, do mulching and husk burial around the arecanut and coconut tree to reduce moisture stress and supplement the laying poultry birds with calcium containing mineral mixtures @ 5 gm per kg of feed.
