Agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from Feb 13 to 17, 2019. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast clear sky in the next five days. In South Andaman, 11 mm of rainfall is expected and no rainfall in North and Middle Andaman and in Nicobar Island 20 mm of light to moderate rainfall is expected during the period. The maximum temperature will be 31.0 to 33.0 oC with minimum temperature of 21.0 to 28.0 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 73 to 84 % and 63 to 78 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 7.8 to 28.2 kmph is expected from North Easterly direction.
Farmers in Andaman region have been advised to spray Imidacloprid @ 2 ml /lit and Acephate 2 g/lit alternatively once in two week to control thrips, leaf hopper and other sucking pests in vegetables, perform repair work of fish pond and with the trail netting harvest the matured fishes and remove wild fishes and provide cool drinking water with electrolyte to the poultry birds to reduce mortality as the weather is likely to be dry. In Nicobar, farmers have been advised to do line sowing of vegetable seeds in raised bed with proper drainage facility and provide cool drinking water with electrolyte to the poultry birds to reduce mortality as the weather is likely to be dry.
