Appl. invited for advance training in handicrafts

The Directorate of Industries will sponsor candidates for undergoing one-month Advance Training in Bamboo & Cane Handicrafts at Bamboo & Cane Development Institute (BCDI), Agartala. The objective of the initiative is to upgrade the skill and capacity by providing training on raw material selection, use of tools and power tools in assembly and finishing, treatment, colouring, use of jigs and frame, finishing etc. The course will provide knowledge and skills in three categories viz basketry, furniture and utility products.
Applications have been invited from interested practising artisans, unemployed youth/potential entrepreneurs who have undergone basic training in bamboo & cane handicrafts in the prescribed format available in the Training Cell of the Directorate of Industries latest by August 10. BCDI was set up at Agartala in 1974 by Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt, of India. It is the oldest Institute providing skills to handicraft artisans. National Centre for Design & Product Development (NCDPD) has been entrusted with the responsibility of running and management of BCDI by O/o. Development Commissioner (Handicrafts) with an objective to provide multi-disciplinary services in the field of skill, design, technology, research and education.
