ASA celebrates Tagore’s birthday

Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA) Junglighat celebrated the 157th birth anniversary of “Biswakabi Rabindranath Thakur” on May 9. A rally was conducted from Junglighat Municipal Commercial Complex to the Statue of Rabindranath Tagore, Marina Park.
The Civic Chief, Mr Eswar Rao offered floral tributes to Rabindranath Tagore’s  statue. Members and students of Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA) presented a Rabindra sangeet . A cultural programme was held in the auditorium of Anthropological Survey of India.  The Member of Parliament, Mr Bishnu Pada Ray, released a souvenir “Rabindra Arghya - 2017” on the occasion. Mr Ray also handed over prizes to 30 students who got 1st Division with distinction and 1st Division (theory or practical or both) of vocal classical and tabla on Music Examination 2015-2016.
Mr Shyamalendu Goswami, president of ASA welcomed the gathering. Mr Soumen Home Chowdhury, the general secretary of Andaman Sangeet Academy (ASA) proposed the vote of thanks.
