Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery training in S. Andaman

The District Health Society, South Andaman  recently organized  a training programme for the Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) yesterday.  This was an initiative of the National Iron Plus. The training programme was held at the  Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner Office, South Andaman.  Mr Mahesh Kumar Gupta, Additional District Magistrate i/c inaugurated the training and informed the participants that anemia is a big challenge for the country, therefore the community level staff  has to play the vital role to reduce or eliminate the anemia. Further, he asked the ANMs to upgrade their knowledge on the National Iron Plus Initiative and implement the same in the community level.
Earlier,  Mr B. Nagendra, District Programme Manager, District Health Society, South Andaman while welcoming the gathering informed that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI launched the National Iron Plus Initiative (NIPI) as a comprehensive strategy to combat the public health challenge of iron deficiency anemia prevalent across the life cycle, as iron deficiency contributes more than 50 per cent of anemia in our country. Later, Dr. Meena V. Natkar, GDMO (Ayurveda), AYUSH hospital briefly imparted the training through PPT presentation on all aspects of National Iron Plus Initiative to the participants. Altogether, 19 ANMs of South Andaman are attended the training except inter island ANMs who will be trained at their respective PHCs
