Awareness camp on malaria control held

June 2017 is being observed as Anti Malaria month and this year theme is “Malaria Control Everyone’s Concerned”. As such, an awareness camp was held in the Panchayat hall, Tushnabad on Wednesday, in which Ms. Mary Jasinta, Pradhan, Tushnabad Panchayat Samiti was the chief guest and Ms. Saida, Up-Pradhan, Tushnabad Samiti Member was the guest of honour. The camp was organized by NVBDCP (National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme) Unit of DHS, in association with the UT Health Mission, Directorate of Health Services.
Dr. H.M. Siddaraju, Deputy Director (Malaria), while speaking on the occasion, explained in details, the importance of early detection and complete treatment and vector control for elimination of malaria. He stressed on the importance of use of mosquito net especially for under five years children and pregnant mothers to prevent mosquito bite. Vector control is everyone’s responsibility. It can easily be achieved if everyone cooperates by active community participation and owning the Malaria control programme, he said and expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation in reducing the occurrence of Malaria in the Islands.
Earlier, Mr K. Vara Prasad, Malaria Inspector, NVBDCP unit welcomed the gathering and the function concluded with the vote of thanks, proposed by Mr Johnson, Malaria Inspector, NVBDCP unit.
