Awareness campaign on “Alcoholism, drug abuse” for BRAITians

BRAIT Alma Port Blair, Alumni association of BRAIT took an initiative to organize an awareness session on the burning social issue “Menace of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse” for the students of BRAIT. Dr. Mitesh Behari, Psychiatrist, G.B. Pant Hospital was the speaker on this occasion and addressed the students on the physiological effects of alcohol on our health and its ill-effects on the society using AV aids.  Around  400 students were present  during the session who interacted with Dr. Behari on the various health hazards of alcohol.  In addition to this, a voluntary blood donation camp was also organized by the BRAIT Alma, in association with Andaman Voluntary Blood Donation Organization, Port Blair. Deputy Director Dr. Ganesh, Dr. Sahil and  Dr.  Priyanka of G.B. Pant Hospital were also present on this occasion.  Around 80 volunteers registered their names for blood donation, out of which 46 donors donated  blood which included Principal, students and alumni members of BRAIT.
The BRAIT Alma acknowledges and thanks the Directorate of Health Services A & N Administration and Andaman Voluntary Blood donation organization for all the support being extended in organizing such camps. The alumni association has decided to organize such blood donation camp on April 16 every year on the occasion of BRAIT up-gradation day.
