Awareness campaign on ill effects of drug abuse

As a part of drive against alcoholism, drug (substance) abuse, the newly created Directorate of Prohibition has been organizing various programme like symposium/workshops in schools, Poster/hoardings/standees at all public places, Nukkad Natak/Skit/Role Play (Public places, Education Institutions, Departments etc), Puppet shows, Counselling. In the series, a new initiative of displaying messages about “Anti-Alcoholism and Drug Abuse” through Public Transport System of Andaman & Nicobar Islands was flagged off by Chief Secretary, A&N Administration from Zilla Parishad campus and followed by a rally by the School students. Initially, these messages will be displayed in 100 STS buses and Autorickshaws plying in Port Blair Municipal Area. Smt. Rashmi Singh, Secretary (SW) stated that this will take forward the campaign which was launched by the Lt. Governor, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on  October 2, 2016 to clean away through such initiatives. The Department makes an appeal to younger generation to desist from falling prey to addictions.
