Awareness prog. on PMEGP by DIC

The District Industries Centre, Department of Industries organised Awareness-cum- Motivational Programme on Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and other government sponsored schemes of Line Departments of Andaman & Nicobar Administration at Ward No. 19 and Ward No 22 on 13th and 15th June respectively. The programme was organised in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra; Lead Bank Office, Port Blair; Port Blair Municipal Council and Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation, an NGO. The main objective of the programme was to disseminate information about self employment schemes such as Prime Ministers employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Govt. Sponsored Schemes being implemented by Line Department of A&N Administration which provides gainful employment opportunities to the unemployed youths. Speaking on the occasion at the first programme at ward No.19, the chief guest of the programme, Mr K. Muthu, Ward Councilor stated that the process of opting self employment needs planning and guidance from agencies such as DIC & Banks. He also urged the youths to utilize this opportunity provided by DIC in brining all the Department of the A&N Administration and Banks under one roof and get all the required information and be benefited.

Similar programme was organised at ward No.22 where the chief guest of the programme Smti. Vaishali Rani Dayal, Ward Councilor, Port Blair Municipal Council said this programme where all Departments of Administration and Developmental Agencies including banks come together for dissemination of information organised by District Industries Center is commendable. She urged the youths to first select an activity of their choice and ability then get trained and later seek financial assistance under the different scheme. She urged the participants to take full advantage of the opportunity available at their door step and advised them to clear all their doubts regarding setting of self employment ventures. She also requested the organizers to arrange similar program at regular intervals for the benefit of the prospective entrepreneurs. During the programme, both councilors further assured that they will extend their full support in respect of grounding self employment ventures. The guest of honor on its first programme at ward No. 19, Mr Mohan Ram Kumar, Project Director, Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation, a NGO, Bhatubasti said this program where all Departments of Administration and Developmental Agencies including Banks come together for dissemination of information organized by District Industries Center  is commendable. Delivering the keynote address, Mr K. Jaikumar, Industries Promotion Officer, District Industries Center explained in details about the eligibility condition and other parameters of Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme. Mr Arup Majumder, Industries Promotion Officer, District Industries Center explained in detail the core activities of the department. He further detailed the various facility and incentives available to entrepreneurs who have set up their enterprise under Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Act 2006.  The resource person, Mr Panchu Kumar Sardar, Director SBI R-Seti; Mr Jawahar Lal Das, Economic Investigator, District Industries Center; Mr Mohan Ram Kumar, Project Director, Vidya Yuvakendra Foundation’ a NGO, Bhatubasti explained in detail the various scheme, programme and assistance provided by their respective organizations towards promotion and growth of self employment. After the deliberation, an Inter-Active Session was also held during which prospective entrepreneurs raised issues related with the Banks and procedures of online filling of PMEGP applications besides information on frequency of District Level Task Force Committee. Altogether, the programme was attended by 107 people from the respective areas.
