Explosion on a boat injured two fishermen in the city on Monday. G Adi Narayana, son of G Guna Rao suffered 60 percent of burn injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at GB Pant Hospital, while the other identified as Kadiresan, son of Hadikalam suffered minor burns in the mishap.
According to sources, the explosion was reported on a fishing dinghy at the Fish Landing Centre (FLC) at Junglighat at around 7 am today. The fishers were mixing some chemicals required for painting the dinghy when the blast occurred. The injured persons were immediately rushed to the GB Pant Hospital, according to reports.
“The two fishermen purchased the chemicals from a shop at Junglighat. It appears that wrong combination of chemicals required for the painting work caused the explosion. Adi Narayana, who sustained 60 percent of burns, is presently under treatment at the Burn Ward of GB Pant Hospital, while his associate was discharged after necessary medication,” said a Junglighat resident, who was present near the explosion site.
